A Burg, a Monastery, and a Green Oasis
Befitting for a medieval town like Rothenberg ob der Tauber, there is a connection between a castle, a monastery, and a garden. However, also be prepared for Asian influences.
If you are looking for a real castle in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, you will look in vain. The “Burggarten” is at the location where the castle used to be. Instead of historical walls, you get a magnificent view. Of special interest in the center of the park is the geometric garden architecture from the 17th and 18th century. The monastery garden, however, truly is the old monastery garden surrounded by historical buildings with a layout and atmosphere typical of historical monastery gardens. A much more recent addition to Rothenburg’s garden scene is the 5000m² Asian Water Garden with a unique landscape, creeks, bridges, gravel paths and waterfalls.
