Stars under the Stars

The Nuremberg music scene is all about variety. The city is not only home to a venerable “Staatstheater,” Nuremberg also enjoys hosting excellent outdoor concerts under the stars and free of charge.

The Staatstheater Nuremberg is the place for opera concerts, classical concerts, and ballet performances. The “Staatsphilharmonie Nürnberg,” the second-largest opera ensemble in Bavaria, calls the Staatstheater home. Throughout the summer, the “Staatsphilharmonie” and the “Nürnberger Symphoniker” offer free outdoor concerts at the Luitpoldhain Park. Another popular outdoor event is the “Rock im Park” Festival that rocks the crowds at the Nuremberg Zeppelinfeld. The largest, free world music festival in Germany is the “Bardentreffen” in Nuremberg’s old town. But summer is also a popular time for pipe organ music in Nuremberg. The “Internationale Orgelwoche” is the largest and oldest spiritual music festival in Europe.
