The Ansbach Synagogue was built in baroque-style from 1744 to 1746. In its courtyard is a Mikveh, or ritual immersion pool. The synagogue serves as the location for exhibits and cultural events several times a year. There are many other locations in Ansbach’s old town as well as at the so-called “Neue Auslage” where you can find traces of the rich Jewish heritage in Franconia. One excellent way to explore Ansbach’s Jewish heritage is during a guided tour called “Court Jews, Merchants, and Peddlers - A Walk through the Jewish Ansbach.”
