Amazing Mangers and World Heritage
The UNESCO World Heritage city of Bamberg not only offers several Christmas markets, Bamberg is also known for its Christmas manger displays.
The Maximilliansplatz in Bamberg gets transformed into a christmas wonderland every year. In the “Sand,” the oldest part of town, a Christmas market specializes in regional arts and crafts. The Artisans’ Christmas Market is a great place to hunt for Christmas presents. Pre-Christmas, advent time is also a time for manger displays in the world heritage city Bamberg. From the first Advent Sunday to the feast of Epiphany, you can visit about 40 different manger stations throughout town, in churches, on public squares, and in museums. Manger touring can be combined with visiting a number of exhibits. The guided tour “From Manger to Manger” elucidates Bamberg’s manger traditions.
